Everyone - please remember to check the playing list each week even if you believe you are not playing.

Tony will confirm final numbers with the course and pay in advance on Thursday morning.

Saturday 30-Nov-2024 at Marangaroo:

Twelve apostles rocked up today for a grand feast of golf at Marangaroo. Some on course notations:

·         Joe has come out of the blocks with 11 pts after 4 holes on the front 9. Steve angles to bring Joe down with praise and says “Gee you’re playing great” and Joe gets 1 pt for each of the next 5 holes. Grrrrrrr.

·         On the 17th hole there was Kangaroo multiplication action, well captured by Steve Attenborough – see the excellent video from Steve, after waiting many hours in the bushes!

·         In the pairs 1st Semi (knock out game) Aussie and JK were 4 up, after 5 holes, over Tone/OJ, after an unbelievable start from Aussie – 3 pars in the first 4 holes. The man is a shark in sheep’s clothing. He went on to score 20 pts front 9 with a 45, which drew an uncharacteristic call of “NZ C” from one of the 2 opposition persons, and I doubt OJ would say such a thing. Whoa. Aussie JK were 6 up with 4 to play, and so ran out easy winners over Tony/OJ, who kept their powder dry all day. Why would you do that? OJ/Tone bow out of 2024 pairs proceedings, but well played men.

·         In the pairs 2nd semi final (double chance game) Pete and Brad had their heads held underwater all day by Tampo/Baz. No particular brilliance, or Tampo magic that we are used to, just up the middle golf from Tampo/Baz – there’s a concept! Tampo Baz 2 up with 3 to play, then 2 up with 2 to play. Then as expected, the magic happened, but alarmingly not from Tampo. Yours truly realized that there was still some life in Aussies HR flask, and took a big swig, and nailed long drive on 17. And followed it up with birdie, to make it 1 down 1 to play. On the last Brad steps up to square the match – sensational. Replay next week.

·         In the clubhouse, Tampo, in discussing an upcoming mini tour, was advised that Oggy, Ecca, and Rod were in his group. “So there’s only 3 of us” was Tampo’s carefully calculated reply! Geez.

In the Stableford comp, PN threw in a round of 36 pts, for the second placed prize of F##k all. WTF?

And Joe B, managed to navigate a very tight handicap of “lots”, and muster 37 pts, for the Club $60 trophy. Joe decided not to share any of it with anyone, which seems mean!

And the November M9 was also won by JB, but his ineligibility (which I did not use spell check for, even tho’ many bourbons under) meant that it went to PN. Thank you Joe.

See all 12 of you next week.
